How to choose a jump rope
The right jump rope (in German: Springseil) depends on what you train. For double unders you want a light, fast rope with smooth bearings; for conditioning and learning, a slightly heavier rope gives more feedback.
Speed ropes: thin coated cable and light handles for double unders and competitions.
Hybrid ropes: a little heavier, easier to time, good for learning double unders.
Heavy ropes: thicker cable for conditioning and shoulder endurance.
Length: adjust the cable so the handles reach roughly to your lower chest when you stand on the middle of the rope.
Cables wear out over time: see when to replace your jump rope cable and shop spare cables and parts.
Frequently asked questions
Which jump rope is best for double unders?
A speed rope with a thin coated cable and bearing handles. If you are still learning, a slightly heavier hybrid rope makes the timing easier.
How long should my jump rope be?
Stand on the middle of the rope: the handles should reach about your lower chest. Shorter ropes are faster but less forgiving.
Can I replace only the cable?
Yes, for most of our ropes. Pick the replacement cable that matches your rope brand and cable diameter.
